NOTE: In an effort to help protect the public and prevent community spreading of the novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), and in accordance with the Governor’s executive order, the City of Cathedral City has closed all City buildings to the general public. During this time, the Community Development Department which includes the Building, Code Compliance and Planning Departments, will only be providing essential City services.
The Building Department will continue to accept applications and plans electronically (PDF). Plan review deposits are temporarily suspended and final approvals and fee payment options will be provided by email. Inspections may still be requested by calling (760) 770-0341 but NO INTERIOR RESIDENTIAL building inspections will be performed.
There will be no access to inspectors to schedule specific times nor will there be same day inspections.

The Building Department issues building permits, performs plan checks and does inspections on all building construction, additions and alterations to assure compliance with current Building Codes, Riverside County ordinances and State and Federal laws.
NOTICE: UPCOMING FEE CHANGES
Resolution No. 2017-37, was adopted and approved on July 26, 2017. The following fees will be effective on October 9, 2017
- HVAC - change-out/new system $195.00 per system
- MSP-electrical main service panel $195.00 per panel
- Water Heater $150.00
- Temporary Power Pole $150.00
- Sewer Connection $270.00
