The 7.5-acre park, located at 30610 San Diego Dr in the historic Dream Homes neighborhood, will provide vital recreational space to a previously underserved area.

“Esperanza,” meaning “hope” in Spanish, symbolizes the community’s long-awaited vision for this space. The project, funded by nearly $8.5 million from California State Parks’ Statewide Park Program grant awarded in 2021, brings a comprehensive recreation facility to one of the oldest neighborhoods in both Cathedral City and the entire Coachella Valley.

The park features an impressive array of amenities designed for residents of all ages, including:

  • Children’s play areas with modern playground equipment
  • Shaded picnic and barbecue spaces
  • Outdoor fitness area with exercise equipment
  • Multi-use field and soccer fields
  • Basketball courts
  • Large and small dog parks
  • Connection to the CV Link multi-modal corridor
  • Parking lots, lighting, and drought-tolerant landscaping

The completion of Esperanza Park reflects Cathedral City’s ongoing commitment to enhancing outdoor spaces for its residents, providing free-to-use facilities that create memorable gathering places for families and community members of all backgrounds.

The new park also improves connectivity to the CV Link, a multi-modal pathway extending from Palm Springs to Coachella and the Salton Sea, further enhancing recreational options for residents.
