Transaction (Sales) and Use Tax

In June 2010, Cathedral City voters approved Measure "H" – which established a temporary (5-year) one percent transaction (sales) and use tax for the period October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2015. The new transactions (sales) and use tax (also called a "District Tax") must be charged on all taxable sales delivered or placed into use within the city limits of Cathedral City.

Effective October 1, 2010, the sales tax rate increased to 9.75%.

Effective July 1, 2011, a special State transaction (sales) tax expired reducing the sales tax rate to 8.75%.

Effective January 1, 2013, a special State transaction (sales) tax was implemented increasing the sales tax rate to 9.00%.
