Target Stores and Cathedral City Police Department Host
National Night Out on Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Target Stores and the Cathedral City Police Department are co-hosting National Night Out, Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 4:00-8:00pm, at Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral City. Cathedral City Police Department and Cathedral City Fire Department will be providing equipment static displays and crime prevention and program booths at the event. This year, the Coachella Valley Healthy Families organization will be participating at National Night Out, by providing numerous crime prevention related booths and children’s activity areas.

National Night Out invites citizens to come out of their homes and meet their public safety officials and resource program organizers throughout the community. Big League Dreams, an event sponsor, is the venue for the 2012 event sponsored by Target Stores, with free hot dogs and drinks, vendors and community resources, a public safety static display from public agencies across the valley. The evening’s events will also include an exhibition softball game between Cathedral City Police Officer’s Association and Palm Springs Police Officer’s Association. There will be no admittance charge into Big League Dreams.

National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” was introduced by National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit, crime prevention organization established in 1981. The NATW has been committed to the development, growth and maintenance of organized crime and drug prevention programs nationwide. Traditionally, the NATW called for “lights on” and front porch vigils; however, through the years of effort has expanded considerably to block parties, cookouts, parades, festivals, neighborhood walks, safety fairs and rallies.
