FINANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Mission and Purpose of the Cathedral City Finance Advisory Committee is to explore ways to develop revenue enhancement and diversification strategies and to advise and make recommendations on such matters to the City Council.
Revenue Enhancement and Diversification Strategies may include, among others:
Ø Increasing the probability of raising sufficient revenue to support current services and service levels.
Ø Spreading the financial burden of essential services among the broadest base of rate payers.
Ø Developing a greater ability to avoid fiscal crisis due to a normal economic cycle which can cause significant revenue fluctuations.
Ø Enhancing the City’s ability to generate revenue to finance increased spending requirements arising from judicial decisions, legislative demands, natural disasters or changes in public demands or service priorities.
Ø Development of an educational component to assist the community in understanding the revenue characteristics of the City in terms of stability, growth, sensitivity to inflation, business cycles and the impact to tax payers.
Meeting Date and Location
Meets quarterly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM in the Study Session Room, first floor Civic Center. The Committee meets January, April, July and October.
