Born and raised in New York, Kathleen moved to Southern California in 1980. In 1982 she founded and operated Business Supplies Unlimited, a small printing business. On January 1, 2000 she retired from her business to be more politically involved in her community. May 2000 brought about a career change when she joined Southern California Edison as the local Public Affairs representative. Kathleen DeRosa is Mayor for the City of Cathedral City. She served on Cathedral City Mobile Home Fair Housing Commission as well as the Planning Commission before being elected to Council in 1998. Currently Kathleen sits on several boards both locally and regionally representing both Southern California Edison as well as Cathedral City. These boards include: Coachella Valley Economic Partnership Board of Directors, Executive Board League of California Cities/Riverside Division (past Division President), CVAG Executive Committee, CVAG Energy and Environment Committee, CVAG Conservation Committee, Convention and Visitors Authority Joint Powers Authority, Animal Campus, Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert Advisory Board member, UCR Desert Lyceum Board. Kathleen has also been recognized for her accomplishments: 2010 Family Values recipient, LDS, 2009 honoree, Sons and Daughters of Italy, Dolly Sinatra Lodge, for Community Service, Women of the Year 2007 Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce, 2005 Sol Azteca Award for Service to Community, Who's Who in Business and Professional Women 2003, Cathedral City Athena Award Recipient, Women in Business in 1999 and one of 12 women honored as the Desert Sun Women in Business for 1998. Kathleen is married, mother of 3, and grandmother to 7.
