Stan Henry was elected the city council of Cathedral City in 2012 and later as mayor in 2014.

Prior to his serving on the city council, Mayor Henry served in law enforcement for more than 33 years and retired as the Chief of Police for the City of Cathedral City in December 2010. His career began as a sergeant when the Cathedral City Police Department was formed in 1984, and in 1995, he commenced his service as Police Chief.

Mayor Henry also serves as a board member of the City of Cathedral City's Oversight Board to the Successor Agency to Redevelopment Agency, and was appointed to the Board by Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit.

Before starting his career with the Cathedral City Police Department, Stan worked for the La Palma Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer from 1977 to 1978. He was then hired by the Stanton Police Department where he worked as a Police Officer, Detective and Sergeant. Beginning his career with the Cathedral City Police Department at the rank of Sergeant, he worked in both the Patrol and the Investigations divisions. In 1988 Stan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, he rotated through both Patrol and Detectives. And in 1989 he was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Stan has lived in Cathedral City for over 25 years. He is happily married to his wife Julie for seventeen years, and has three children; a daughter Stephanie, sons Michael and Matthew. Stan also has three grandchildren. Stan was born in Bakersfield California.

Stan holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Redlands and an Associate of Arts degree from Fullerton Community College. He also holds a Community College lifetime teaching credential. He has been an adjunct faculty instructor at the College of the Desert since 1993 teaching in the Criminal Justice program and the Police Academy.
