Cathedral City’s AYSO Chapter Awarded Top Honors

For the second year in a row the national offices of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) have named AYSO Region 1200 – Cathedral City a “Platinum Region.” This is the highest honor a region can achieve.

Each local AYSO region is audited annually by the national organization in such areas as support for AYSO philosophy and policy, improvement, and training of volunteers. The national AYSO looks for regions that demonstrate an effective use of its resources, the quality delivery of services and innovation.

The award was presented at the annual AYSO convention in San Diego on March 29.

The AYSO is a non-profit youth development program that uses soccer to make a positive impact on children. Region 1200—Cathedral City is a 100% unpaid volunteer group. The region enrolled 1,324 girls and boys age 4 to 18 for the 2007/2008 season. 148 teams were formed. Region 1200 also has a program for children with special needs so they can play soccer, too.
