Picanha Restaurant Opening in April

Cathedral City’s newest downtown restaurant, Picanha Churrascaria, will open some time in April. This adds to the dining experiences available just steps from Town Square including: Trilussa, Big Mama’s, Buddy Greco’s Supper Club, and old favorites Red Tomato/House of Lamb and El Gallito.

Churrasco, the Brazilian word for barbecue, describes a 300-year tradition that originated in the pampas, or prairie rich lands, of Brazil. In churrasco tradition, gauchos, Brazilian cowboys, barbequed marinated beef, pork and poultry on long skewers over an open fire pit. In the churrascaria culinary style, diners use a little wooden indicator with green on one and end red on the other to start or stop continuous service. At Picanha, waiters bring swords laden with meat directly to your table for as long as you keep the indicator on the green, or go, cycle.

The skewered meat is carved right onto your plate, hot from the open fire grill. Continuous service, called ridihzo, turns a meal into a performance.

Welcome Picanha.

CATHEDRAL CANYON DRIVE INFORMATION
The City is on schedule with the sewer project and the contractor has completed the sewer installation on Cathedral Canyon Drive. Cathedral Canyon Drive has been closed to thru-traffic as a storm drain system has been installed on this street.

However, the storm drain system – not being paid for by the Cove Improvement Assessment District – had to be redesigned, which has caused a delay. The utility lines were not shown in the right locations on official maps, often times shallower than indicated. Once identified, the true locations required a different style of pipe and catch basins on Cathedral Canyon Drive, Palo Verde Drive and Tahquitz Road.

Because storm drain pipes are made at the factory specifically for each job, additional time was needed to fill the storm drain pipe order for the redesign work.

The storm drain is now complete and curbs, gutter, driveway approaches, cross gutters and spandrels are being installed on Cathedral Canyon Drive. After these items are done, Cathedral Canyon Drive will be graded and paved.

The sewer and street work on all other areas of the Cove project are progressing per the project schedule. Cove Phase 2 work is scheduled to begin when Phase 1 work is complete.

Morongo Creek Blow Sand Abatement/Pm 10
Mitigation Within The City Of Cathedral City
Update

Week of March 24, 2008

The Contractor is continuing to maintain the newly planted Western Honey Mesquite Trees. Stabilization of the slopes with a soil stabilizer spray to minimize the production of wind blown dust along the east side of the existing trees has been completed. Installation has been completed for the pipe gate and chain link fence along the Vista Chino Road access point and the Verona Road access point. In addition, new signs will be installed notifying the public about prohibiting access to foot traffic and vehicles into the gated area.

Please restrain from walking and hiking along the project area from this point on. Foot traffic and vehicle traffic will minimize the effectiveness of our on-going battle with the blow sands and is also prohibited by the City of Cathedral City Code.
