Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work ® Day Planned for Thurs. May 3rd.

The City of Cathedral City and its employees will participate in the national observance of Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work ® Day on Thursday, May 3rd. The event, sponsored by the Ms. Women’s Foundation, is in its 15th year and will actually be celebrated on April 26th. But due district-wide testing in some school districts, several children would not be able to attend. The City decided to delay its celebration to accommodate students. The event is open to children of employees ages 8-12.

Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day is designed to expand opportunities for girls and boys, expose them to what adults in their lives do during the work day, show them the value of their education, and give them an opportunity to share how they envision their future. It is intended to be more than a career day. Each year, workplaces and adults around the country recognize its benefits and participate in the program to support our nation’s daughters and sons.

Aside from working side by side with their parents, students will attend a Breakfast with the Mayor, along with tours at City Hall, Council Chamber, the Police and Fire Departments.

Calling All Vendors

It’s an “open call” to all food, beverage and retail vendors for the City’s annual Fountainworks Festival 2008 on July 3rd, 7-11pm in Town Square.

Fountainworks Festival 2008 will feature the Las Vegas-style group SPLASH! featured performers for the Grammy and Academy Award after-parties.

Interested vendors and businesses can contact Lynn Mallotto, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Cathedral City at 770-0346.

A Friendly Reminder

As the hot summer months approach, take advantage of the free, covered, and convenient parking in the Parking Structure located next to Civic Center. Civic Center, Imax and Pickford Theatres, as well as the Pickford Promenade Retail Center are a short walk away –and, yes, it is a shorter distance than the River or the Westfield Town Center.

Keep your car cool and comfortable during the summer months and park in the parking structure. With rising gas prices you can save fuel energy in cooling your car!
