Cathedral Fest This Saturday

Come to Town Square this Saturday, December 9th, at 3:30 p.m. for the City’s Cathedral Fest Celebration. There will be lots of holiday activity: Cathedral City High School Choir, Motions Dance Studio, the Desert Stars Cheer, Dance and Twirling Club, and more! Santa will arrive on his trusty fire truck and there will be plenty of candy canes!

You can also watch ice carving at the event. The carvings, celebrating the City’s “cathedral” theme will be of cathedrals across the world: Crystal Cathedral, Garden Grove, California; St. Mary’s Cathedral, Tokyo Japan; and Cathedral Metropolitan in Mexico City, Mexico.

Bring food or a toy with you to event to donate to help those in need. See specifics in the next article.

Holiday Giving

Cathedral City is known for its generous nature, and this holiday season is of no exception.

F.I.N.D has asked for our assistance and efforts again this year, as it attempts to feed families and senior citizens in Cathedral City and throughout the valley. Food collection barrels for F.I.N.D. (Food In Need of Distribution) are conveniently located throughout the City – City Hall, Fire Administration Building on Desert Vista/Ramon Rd., the Mary Pickford and Desert IMAX Theatres.

F.I.N.D. is asking for donations of non-perishable goods – vegetables, fruit, meat and fish, as well as boxes or bags or cereal, rice, beans and potatoes.

The U.S. Marine Reserves are sponsoring its annual Toys for Tots drive with collection boxes at the Mary Pickford and Desert IMAX Theatres, the Chamber of Commerce, and Cathedral City Fire Dept.’s Administration Building on Desert Vista near Ramon Rd.

Food barrels and toy collection boxes will be in front of Civic Center during the Annual Tree Lighting and Cathedral Festival on Sat., Dec. 9th. Cathedral City residents and valley residents attending the event are invited and encouraged to share in this season giving by bringing an item of food or toy to be placed in the collection containers.

Cathedral City Police Officers and Firefighters have partnered with Toys R Us to provide children a little Christmas cheer with its Bikes For Kids program. The public safety employees are accepting donations to purchase bikes and helmets for distribution on Dec. 21st in Town Square. Toys R Us is providing a child’s bike and helmet for $50. To date, police and firefighters have raise money through generous donations to purchase 160 bikes and helmets, and, received a donation of 200 bikes, fully assembled this week from a generous valley resident. If you wish to donate to the Bikes For Kids program call Officer Ernie Vasquez at 318-4925 or 457-8026.

Groundbreaking Celebration at Dream Homes

You can even become part of Cathedral City posterity by signing a sewer pipe that will later be used as part of the project – not something you do every day!
