Save the Date

The next Cathedral City Neighborhood Community Meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 18, at 6 p.m. at Landau Elementary School. Neighborhood Community Meetings are informal opportunities for citizens and members of the City Council to discuss topics of importance to the community. Mark your calendar.

Healing Field

This September 11th will mark the 4th anniversary of the devastating attacks on New York and Washington DC. To honor the occasion and the over 2,500 soldiers who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq since the war began, the Cathedral City Rotary Club is taking leadership in an event called Healing Field.

The event will take place the weekend of September 8 – 11 in Cathedral City at the corners of Date Palm and Dinah Shore, adjacent to Big League Dreams Sports Park. The goal of the Healing Field is to honor each and every soldier who has given their life since September 11th with a flag. Beginning at 9AM of Friday, September 8th, 3000 United States flags will be placed on the corners. There will also be flags of the nations that have formed the coalition countries that are serving alongside us.

Healing Field is not a demonstration for or against the war. It is a memorial to those who have died and to their families.

While this is a Rotary project, it is a community event, and donations large and small are needed to help defray the sizable costst. Please contact the Cathedral City Rotary Club at 760-408-8420 to find out about donation levels or to make a donation toward the event. There are also opportunities for non-profit organizations, like Boy Scouts, school groups and others. Please call for more information.

Toyota: Moving Forward

The planning Commission approved plans for a major remodel at Toyota of the Desert at the Cathedral City Auto Center. The project involves demolition of the existing showroom facility and adding a new 40,181 square foot modern showroom/office facility onto the existing service bays. The total building size will be over 73,000 square feet, and will be able to display 21 cars inside the showroom. You can buy a car and not leave the cushy comfort of the air conditioned showroom.
